Obviously, no one expected us to still be venturing through lockdowns but here we are. While some of us haven't had much change the majority of people have had their days turned upside down. Juggling child care, work responsibilities and hobbies while still trying to maintain sanity can be challenging. Here are three ways you can stay active and healthy during this season.
1. Maintain an Active Routine:
Many studies suggest that keeping a routine has positive benefits on mental health and overall mood
Getting up early in the morning and at the same time everyday to stay in a routine
Starting your day with exercise such as going on a walk
Making a nutritious breakfast
Self care - Having a relaxing bath or time of meditation.
If you keep a routine you will know what to expect and be better equipped to plan your days and be successful with them!
2. Try a home workout:
Physical activity can boost self-esteem, mood, sleep quality and energy, as well as reducing your risk of stress, depression, dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
You can find loads of at home workouts online to keep your body active
Can be beneficial when it is too cold to go on a walk
No equipment is needed
Check out Medpoint Fitness so that you can have some home exercise workouts created based on your goals and your equipment availability!
3. Get creative with your walks: walks can have huge benefits on one's mental health however they can seem kind of boring if you do them frequently with the same route.
Try listening to a podcast with taking a walk
Listening to music
Catching up with friends on a facetime call phone call
Sometimes when nothing else works just getting away from your usual setting can be beneficial. Get outside and turn on your favorite playlist or podcast and enjoy.
