Comprehensive Health Risk Factor Assessment Screening Tool

Before you come to Medpoint we need to know more about you. Our intake form allows you to report detailed data about you and your families health history. Please fill this out in the comfort of your own home and send at least 48 hours before your exam so we can properly prepare for your visit.

Complete Male or Female Centered Medical Check Up

The physicians at Medpoint are carefully screened in order to provide the best possible care for our clients. Not only are they fully trained on screening for disease but they also focus on preventative medicine. Your Medpoint physician will listen to your concerns, provide a detailed physical exam, supervise your personalized report and will even be available for a follow up visit to discuss your results if desired.

On-Site Blood Panel and Urinalysis

For your convenience our skilled phlebotomist will perform your blood work in a casual and relaxed environment. The fasting blood work will be based upon your age, gender and risk factor assessment. Immediately following the testing in this room you will be provide with the choice of breakfast including smoked salmon, bagels with light cream cheese, fresh fruit and granola and fresh juice.

Immunization Update

Whether it’s your annual flu shot or a booster on your diphtheria, tetanus, measles mumps and rubella or others, Medpoint Health Care will make sure that you are fully up to date. Please make sure to fill out the immunization history in your intake forms. Please note the Medpoint physician will assess your risk level and provide whatever boosters are needed.

Visual Acuity Assessment and Glaucoma Test

A standard eye exam to measure your ability to see distance will be combined with the current standard test for Glaucoma. At Medpoint we use a non-contact tonometer which measures the pressure in each eye.

Audiometric Hearing Screen/Audiogram

This test screens for the early signs of hearing loss. The Audiometer will produce a number of tones and beeps are varying frequencies. This test is accurate enough to determine a 20% hearing loss in just one ear. In order to avoid background noise our earphones come with special noise cancelling ear plugs that allow precision without the inconvenience of putting our clients into a close spaced booth.

Resting electrocardiogram/12 lead ECG

ECG (electrocardiogram) is a test that measures the electrical activity of the heart. The heart is a muscular organ that beats in rhythm to pump the blood through the body.

The signals that make the heart’s muscle fibres contract come from the sinoatrial node, which is the natural pacemaker of the heart.

In an ECG test, the electrical impulses made while the heart is beating are recorded and usually shown on a piece of paper. This is known as an electrocardiogram, and records any problems with the heart’s rhythm, and the conduction of the heart beat through the heart which may be affected by underlying heart disease.

Respiratory function

Using SpO2 by pulse oximetry as well as Pulmonary/Respiratory function by spirometry and flow-volume loop test Medpoint can screen for a number of Respiratory concerns. Lung diseases that are commonly found include COPD, Emphysema and Asthma to name a few.

Ankle-brachial Index

Peripheral vascular disease is a problem that affects many of our patients. Identifying patients with PVD is important, as PVD is a risk marker for a number of conditions, including: coronary disease, cerebrovascular disease, aneurysmal disease, diabetes, and hypertension. Having documented PVD increases the risk of cardiovascular mortality 4-6 times over healthy age-matched individuals.

A simple and useful test to assess lower extremity arterial perfusion is the ankle-brachial index (ABI). This test can be easily performed using a handheld Doppler device and a blood pressure cuff.

Bone Density

Screening a client’s bone mineral density is a reliable way to screen for osteoporosis and their risk of bone fracture. Our minimally evasive test is accurate and takes very little of our clients valuable time. Cases of concern will be referred appropriately.

Computerized Analysis of Current Nutrition Status

Included in your Medpoint intake form is a food diary for you to record your average daily food intake. Our advanced dietary software will calculate your percentage of fat, carbohydrates and protein intake. The Medpoint in house nutritionist will analyse that data and make recommendations on your diet.

Gait Analysis

Gait analysis is the systematic study of animal locomotion, (more specific as a study of human walking) using the eye and the brain of observers, augmented by instrumentation for measuring body movements, body mechanics and the activity of the muscles. Gait analysis is used to assess, plan and treat individuals with conditions affecting their ability to walk. It is also commonly used in sports such as athletics to help athletes run more efficiently and to identify posture-related or movement-related problems in people with injuries.

Our GaitScan™ System is a revolutionary diagnostic tool for assessing our patient’s biomechanics. GaitScan™ has an industry high 4096 sensors and scans at an industry high 300Hz (scans per second). These measurements provide Medpoint with a sophisticated explanation of foot mechanics and assists them with orthotic and/or shoe solutions.

Mole Mapping

Skin Cancer is the fastest growing Cancer in North America. At Medpoint our Dermatologist exclusive role is to assess suspicious moles for different types of Cancer. To aid him in this battle Medpoint has invested in a Mole Mapping machine that tracks changes to moles and detects the appearance of new ones. Clients will receive a DVD with 14 high definition pictures of their skin’s surface.

Comprehensive fitness assessment

Having a detailed and accurate account of your personal fitness levels is often the first step in improving your health. At Medpoint we use the world renowned Microfit system to calculate your VO2 max, strength, flexibility and Body Fat analysis. Our tests are conducted by our in house Kinesiology team who all work in our medically integrated fitness program.

BOD POD

The BOD POD Gold Standard Body Composition Tracking System is an Air Displacement Plethysmograph which uses whole-body densitometry to determine body composition (fat and fat-free mass) in adults and children.

Use of shower facility and spa products in personal grooming center.

Over the years many of our clients have commented on our facility as being similar to that of a spa. Our personal grooming centre is equipped with everything you need to continue on with your day.

Referrals

Your Medpoint Physician with refer to any specialists or diagnostic testing that they feel is appropriate for your care. Along with the Medpoint Concierge navigational team our organization will strive to accommodate appointments in a timely manner.

Medical Report

The Medpoint medical report is a detailed analysis of all the finding from your visit. Along with an easy to ready executive summary page the report will include graphs, blood work findings and a plan for your better health.
